Dr. Alan R. and Rita M. Brown Family Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Alan and Rita M. Brown Memorial Scholarship has been established by the family to honor our parents for their dedication and commitment to the Haywood County Schools and the community they lived in for over 75 years. Alan and Rita raised six children who attended and graduated from Haywood County Schools. In the fall of 2018, Mark the youngest son, was tragically killed in a motorcycle hit and run accident. We remember Mark, along with our oldest brother David, who was killed in Vietnam in 1968. The scholarship will recognize a senior in the Haywood County Schools who emulated Alan and Rita’s high family values, commitment to public education and willingness to get involved and make a difference in the community where they lived. This is a one – time $1000 scholarship.
