The Canton High School Class of 1957 has established a scholarship fund with the Haywood County School Foundation, Inc. utilizing contributions by class members. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc. will administer the Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is available to all Pisgah High School seniors who will be attending Haywood Community or other state of North Carolina higher education institutions.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Graduated senior from Pisgah High School
Enrolled or accepted for enrollment in Haywood Community College or other state
higher education institutions
Scholastic Achievement – Minimum of a C average
Financial Need
Special consideration may be given to descendants of class of 1957 members, but the recommendation for the recipient of an award will rest with the committee based upon an overall evaluation of the candidates’ qualifications and needs
Participation in extracurricular activities and involvement in community service
PROCESS
A committee appointed by the Canton High School Class of 1957 will recommend the selection of recipients to the Scholarship committee of the Haywood County Schools Foundation. The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Haywood County School Foundation will administer the Scholarship fund.
PAYMENT OF AWARDS
Payment of scholarship awards will be made by the beginning of the school year. The student cannot receive FULL scholarship from any other source in order to receive the scholarship. A previously awarded scholarship will be revoked if the recipient later chooses to attend an out of state college. The Haywood County Schools Foundation reserves the right to revoke the scholarship if these guidelines are not met.
