The primary mission of the Waynesville Lions Club is “doing things for others”. Charles Balentine was a member of the Lions Club of Waynesville for over 50 years and exemplified this motto each and every day. The club unanimously agreeded to name the club scholarships given each year to students who are Tuscola High School seniors in memory of his service to the community, friends and family. The fund raising events that the club conducts during the year provide the resources that the club uses to award these scholarships. The Haywood County Schools Foundation Inc. administers the clubs annual scholarship(s) for qualified high school seniors at Tuscola.
