$500 one-time award available to a senior in the Haywood County Public Schools for study in the science field with preference given to students who are entering into a pre-veterinarian or veterinarian tech program. Dr. Mack Setser is a long time supporter of the Haywood County Public Schools. He served as a board member and past chairman of the Haywood County Board of Education and founded the Junaluska Animal Hospital.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Haywood County Resident
• Graduating Senior from public high schools in Haywood County
• Entering a science field with preference to a pre-veterinarian or veterinarian tech program at a community college or university
• Participation in extracurricular activities and involvement in community service
• Financial Need
PROCESS
The family of Dr. Mack S. & Beulah Setser will appoint a committee to review the applications and will make a recommendation for the recipient of the scholarship. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipient of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the scholarship fund.
PAYMENT OF AWARDS
Payment of scholarship awards will be made at the beginning of the school year or at the beginning of each semester. Checks will be made payable to the school for student’s account and will be forwarded to the financial aid office. A copy of the previous semester grades is required to be submitted to the Foundation before further payment will occur.
