Haywood Rotary Club Scholarship

The Haywood Rotary Club Scholarship has been established for graduating seniors at Pisgah High School in Haywood County. Scholarships may be awarded annually to make college study possible for deserving graduates of Pisgah High School. Rotarians are part of an international service organization of 1.2 million business and professional men and women who, as volunteers, address needs of their home and international communities. The Haywood Rotary Club was chartered February 23, 1979, with 25 members, and met originally in the Robertson Memorial YMCA building in Canton. Today the Haywood Rotary club has over 50 members and presently meets at Central Haywood High School in Clyde.

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA
 Haywood County Resident
 Graduating High School Senior of Pisgah High School
 Attending a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university
 Participation in extracurricular activities and community service
 Financial need will be considered
 Have minimum of 2.75 GPA
 Be in top 50 percent of class

SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARD
The process for selecting recipients of the Haywood Rotary Club Scholarship will be established by the Scholarship Committee. The committee is composed of teachers, guidance personnel, administrators and designees of Haywood Rotary Club. The committee will make a recommendation for the recipients of the scholarship. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipient of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the scholarship fund. Awards will be $1,000 each. The number of scholarships given will be based on funds available at the time the scholarship is awarded.

PAYMENT OF AWARDS
Payment of scholarship awards will be made at the beginning of the school year or at the beginning of each semester. Checks will be made payable to the school for student’s account and will be forwarded to the financial aid office. A copy of the previous semester grades is required to be submitted to the Foundation before payment will occur.
