The Women of Waynesville established this scholarship, along with John Chovan and Rebecca Chovan Faile in memory of a loving friend, wife and mother. Lynda’s desire was to make a difference in the lives of others. This scholarship is to provide assistance to one graduating female who resembles those same characteristics. Lynda’s memory and legacy will be remembered through the recipient of this scholarship.
This will be a one-time $1000 scholarship.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• A female senior from Haywood County Consolidated Schools.
• Community involvement and extra-curricular activities
• Financial need
• Preference given to students attending Haywood Community College or Southwestern Community College.
SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARDS
The Women of Waynesville have established a committee to review the applications. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship applications and possibly a personal interview. The committee will make a recommendation for the recipients of the scholarship to the Haywood County Schools Foundation. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipients of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the scholarship fund.
