Staff Sergeant Michael C. Parrott Memorial Scholarship

The Michael C. Parrott Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established with the Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., to honor Michael’s memory. He gave his life in Iraq protecting the rights and freedoms for all Americans. Michael’s family established the Memorial Scholarship Fund to award a scholarship to a senior at Pisgah High School who has excelled in the NJROTC program. The number of scholarships awarded will be based on available funds.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Must be a Haywood County resident currently enrolled in JROTC at Pisgah High School and a graduating senior.
• Must be planning to attend an approved secondary program (technical/community college junior college, four-year institution) and have a 2.5 or better GPA.

SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARD
The process for selecting recipients of the Staff Sergeant Michael C. Parrott Scholarship will be established by the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will make a recommendation for the recipient of the scholarship. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipient of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The awards given will be determined by available funds. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the Michael C. Parrott Memorial Scholarship Fund.

PAYMENT OF AWARDS
Payment of scholarship awards will be made at the beginning of the school year or at the beginning of each semester. Checks will be made payable to the school for student’s account and will be forwarded to the financial aid office.
