Trooper Anthony G. Cogdill Memorial Scholarship

The Anthony G. Cogdill Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established with the Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., to honor Anthony’s memory and to provide financial support to the students at Tuscola High School who wish to pursue a degree in the law enforcement field. Anthony’s friends, fellow officers and family have established the Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor him as a state patrolman who grew up, attended school and was stationed in Haywood County. The number and amount of scholarships awarded will be based on available funds.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Graduating High School Senior from Tuscola High School
• Preference to a law enforcement related field of study
• Attending a community or university college
• Participation in extracurricular activities and community service
• Financial Need

SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARD
The process for selecting recipients of the Anthony G. Cogdill Memorial Scholarship will be established by the Selection Committee. The committee will make a recommendation for the recipient of the scholarship. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipient of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The awards given by the family will be determined by available funds. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the Anthony G. Cogdill Memorial Scholarship Fund.

PAYMENT OF AWARDS
Payment of scholarship awards will be made at the beginning of the school year or at the beginning of each semester. Checks will be made payable to the school for student’s account and will be forwarded to the financial aid office. A copy of the previous semester grades is required to be submitted to the Foundation before payment will occur.
